I am a terrible blogger! Ok, not terrible at the actual blogging. I am terrible at blogging consistently.
It is what it is. Life is crazy. I have great ideas to write about all the time, just no time to write. Right now, it’s summer and we have been super busy. I know: excuses, excuses! I am thankful to have some down time to write this weekend. Of course, I can’t remember any of those aforementioned ideas. Instead, I thought I would share how one little idea for my annual herb garden grew into a fancy fairy herb garden. And how much I love it!
First, a quick update on my garden. It’s good. Up until this week, it hasn’t been very sunny out. It’s not growing as quickly as I would like. However, over the last few days it’s looking much better. My kale is doing awesome! I am excited to pick a few handfuls of leaves tomorrow and make…something?! I don’t know what yet.

Each year I do something new with my herbs. No different this year. I found some charming, vintage-looking cans at a thrift shop for inspiration. I started by drilling a few holes in the bottoms for irrigation and bam, herb garden on a ladder. Or so I thought. This year I just kept adding sweet little touches. After the herbs were planted in the cans, I decided they needed color and added some leftover petunias. They were pretty! That could have been enough.

I had another idea. The ladder just didn’t look “full” enough. Last August we lost a big beautiful tree in the front yard to a nasty storm. Around the bottom of that tree was my fairy garden. It had been overgrown and just wasn’t fun anymore so I took it down and boxed up all my toys. It was sad. Although I have another idea for those toys, and the tree, I missed seeing them on display. I took them out to clean them on my patio table. They were all spread out and cute. I didn’t want to re-box them.
That’s when the lightbulb went off. I filled the ladder in with my little pixie and gnome houses. Holy hell, that was adorable!

Could that have been enough? Definitely! But….I happened to overorder some solar string lights. I needed them to light up our backyard for a large party we were having. Which they did. And they were cute. But I had extra that I didn’t want to waste. Who wants to waste perfectly delightful solar string lights, right?

Into the fairy herb garden, they went. Is it enough? Maybe, maybe not. I will probably add some more accessories both on the ladder and in my flower beds. But for now, I am satisfied. I love anything whimsical and enchanting; this fancy fairy herb garden gives me those feels. Each night (except tonight, it’s too hot and humid) I sit on my patio with my husband and watch the all come on. We laugh, wondering which set will come on first tonight? Will it be the veggie garden lights? Or the pineapple? Or the flamingo? Or the fairy herb garden? Or the clothes line lights? Or the tree trunk? Usually, it’s a tossup between the pineapple and fairy garden.

Long story short, don’t be afraid to keep going with ideas. Sometimes one little inspiration grows and blossoms into something incredibly adorable.

There is my sappy, not sassy, blog post. I hope you are all enjoying your summers, family, and friends! Peace out!
