I have been doing Halloween stuff for the last several weeks. But I didn’t have my blog up and running yet. You are getting a lot all at once. Scare season is almost over, I want to share what I can, while it’s still relevant. I will try to condense as much as I can.
I love decorating for Halloween. I love dressing up to hand out candy. I love wearing Halloween themed outfits throughout October. I love making scary looking dinners or snacks. I didn’t do as much this year. But here are a few photos of what I have done.
When decorating each year, some things stay the same, and some change. I love my green web on my hut6ch. That stays the same. Every year. I also try to create themed scenes. This year I did a lot with pumpkins. They are fun! And I found some cute sparkly ones at the dollar store. I love sparkle anything. In my plants this year I went with more of a witch’s theme. In the past it’s been either graveyards or bats. I like to change it up. One of my other favorite parts of Halloween is putting out decorations that came from my Godmother when she passed away several years ago. She was amazing and absolutely loved Halloween. I feel like I am not just channeling my inner Della, but also a way to celebrate her memory. It makes me smile. The basket and fabric placemat were Her’s.
One of my favorite shirts for Halloween, that I basically wear year-round, is my Michael Meyers shirt. My friend is a spray paint artist and some of his work he has put on T-shirts or hoodies. This is one of them. He is incredibly talented. Check him out at Painting Aweyh | Minneapolis MN | Facebook
There are so many fun ideas on the world wide web for Halloween. Last year I did a lot more. This year, not so much. One of the dinners I made was not from the internet, but me figuring it out as I went. Gooey Goblin Venison Shepard’s Pie. It was meant to be spiders, but that was a fail. Yes, I fail A LOT! But don’t let that get you down. I made spiders from our favorite Oregon cheese. But they melted into blobs. Hence, the goblin bit. Easy recipe: brown your venison, mix with carrots, corn and peas, add beef gravy and au jus, top with mashed potatoes and cheese. Easy peasy.
Long story short, it doesn’t take a lot of money to make things festive. I am not fancy. I just enjoy being fun. And influencing my peeps to be fun with me.
