As promised, I am sharing the story of how my hubby and I met.
We had both been Minnesota Vikings fans, each in our own right. We both were members of a Facebook fan page. Somewhere along the line, we had become Facebook friends. Fast forward a few years of not actually ever interacting…that brings us to our first interaction.
A handful of years ago Matt was living in Oregon, me in Minnesota. As I was scrolling through the good ol’ bookface one day, I saw a comment someone had left that was simply a city and state. It happened to be the city I live in. So, without looking at the actual post the comment was on, I replied to the comment “Ditto”. That one little word sparked conversation between us. And we NEVER stopped talking. The post was his, he was looking for his next landing spot to call home. And now…it is home!
Once we started chatting, we both knew right away this was something special. Love at first chat. We started a long-distance relationship. I made him swear not to use the “L” word until we were together in person. He unhappily obliged. After a month of chatting, he came to visit me in Minnesota and meet my son. Another couple of months later, I went to Oregon to see him and meet his mother and son.
A few months later we closed on our house here in Minnesota. That winter he proposed to me at Bentleyville. Bentleyville is a pretty large holiday lights attraction in Northern Minnesota.
About three years later we tied the knot to make it official on 2-22-22. We had felt like husband and wife since the day we started talking. It was literally instantaneous. The day of our wedding there was a snowstorm. Our officiant had to video called in, due to the roads. It was small, in our living room, surrounded by immediate family (some on zoom) & friends, and was absolutely perfect.
I was no spring chicken. I had lived and experienced a lot of bad in my life. All that bad helped me learn my worth and set my standards high.
This man exceeds them daily. I love him and the life we have built together.
Happy Anniversary my Love.
Xoxo,
JJ
I LOVE this story! Betty and I met online in 1995 in an AOL chatroom, and it was much the same as your awesome get-together. Sometimes the internet and Bookface isn’t all that bad!
