Fun Shit, Themed fun

My little Ocean Oasis in the Midwest

Good morning Peeps, and happy belated Easter! See what I did there? I am at work, I have just over an hour left before I can go home and get a few winks in.  I am done with all the schoolwork I am able to do for the moment. I have a quiz left to take in Medical Terms. However, it is timed. This time of morning at work I start getting guests that need attention. Safer to wait and do that quiz at home. I finished all the worksheets for 2 chapters though, that is an accomplishment for one shift of work!

Any who, I find myself apologizing once again for waiting so long to get a new post up. You guys, I have a few really good new recipes and my seeds have really taken off that I’d like to share in a post; I just haven’t had time. This last month has been nutso! I am fully recovered from surgery, which means I am back to both jobs, and school gets more and more intense each week. I love that intensity; it is just really time consuming. We also had one of the kiddos graduate high school this month and move out to go be an adult. We are super proud. Add in a minor car accident, nurturing my baby garden seeds, still working on selling the property out of state, some fundraising stuff, and just being a mom and wife. Yeah, no time for blogging lately. There is a good chance it will be a while before I get another post up.

I did want to get something out quick to share a project I did find time this month to work on. Redecorating our spare room. It was a quick and inexpensive change, but definitely made a big impact.

I love hosting. I love hosting parties, I love hosting dinners, I love hosting out of town guests for weekends or whatever. We had a spare room on the main floor, then we didn’t, then we did, then we didn’t again, and now we do once again. We still have the spare room upstairs too. But our stairs are treacherous and I don’t want guests to have to trek up and down them. The main floor works much better.

I have stayed with so many friends and family. When I started thinking about what I wanted to do with this room, I thought about all the little things others have done for me and my family when we have stayed with them, and how special they made me feel. I also love when I feel relaxed when I stay somewhere else. I want people to feel special and relaxed when they stay with us. I also wanted to use what I could from our belongings we inherited from the Pacific Northwest. This space is also for my home office, and needs to have some sort of de-stressing aspect to it.

All of that brought me to a coastal theme. The walls were already a nice light shade of blue. The trim was already white. I already had a lot of items for décor I could use. All I really had to buy was the quilt and a couple other small things. Actually, I have an essential oil diffuser coming from Amazon later today.

Instead of making this any longer and more boring than it needs to be, I will add photos with a trick/tip or 2 in the captions. Hopefully you don’t mind extra photos. A few things in the room I made myself and wanted to share just a little bit of the processes.

Have a great day everyone! Sorry if my grammar isn’t great. I am rushing to get this done and posted this morning. Usually, I spend 2-3 hours on a blog post. I have 60 more minutes until I get off work and get to go sleep.

A few projects and materials

This red starfish was so delicate, this was the perfect home for it!
I just love this idea. I am always forgetting SOMETHING when I travel. I like having the essentials on hand. No need to have to go spend fun money on vacation for toothpaste or something lame.
Can you believe this was a very dark and plain wood picture frame? It’s so much cuter this way.

This is just a small portion of what we have to use.
We have So. Many. Seashells.

Finishing touches, Finished Space

Excited to have our guests to Minnesota sign, and then take it when we move and have our guests to Oregon sign.

Fred, the goose is back in the air! We love Fred.
What is the one piece of info everyone needs when traveling?
I love all the things.

I love how relaxing this room feels. I can’t wait to get the oil diffuser going in here. I didn’t finish in an hour, so I am home, completing this post in this room. I love it. And I hope our guests do too. It’s small, and not fancy at all. But it’s cozy! Happy Tuesday folks!
